Privacy policy

Effective 26 September 2026

DoneUp helps families keep track of chores, pocket money and rewards. This policy explains, in plain words, what we keep, why, who helps us run the app, and how a parent can see or delete it.

Who we are

DoneUp is run by Jon Adams, trading as Adava Studio ("we", "us"), 4231 Balboa Avenue #1108, San Diego, CA 92117, United States. If you have a question about your family's data, email us at support@adavastudio.com or write to us at that address.

What we collect from grown-ups

Your account: the email address and name that Apple or Google share when you sign in, the profile picture link Google shares if you sign in with Google, and an account number we create. We never see or store a password.

Your family: the name you give yourself in the app, your home's name and colour, the time zone your phone is set to, and the other grown-ups you invite and what they're allowed to do.

What you set up and do in the app: chores, rewards and their prices, penalties, approvals, notes and feedback you write, leaderboard prizes, the picture you pick for a reward from DoneUp's own picture library, and a product link you add (see "Links to shops" below), and a history of changes so the family's numbers always add up.

Your plan: which plan you're on, when it renews or ends, and whether it came from the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google take the payment; we never see your card details.

Optional: how you heard about DoneUp, if you choose to tell us, and your refer-a-friend code and who joined with it.

Your phone: a notification token, if you allow notifications, so we can tell you when a chore or reward needs you.

What we collect about kids

A kid's phone joins with an invite from a parent. Kids don't make an account, don't give an email address, and don't sign in with Apple or Google. The phone gets an anonymous sign-in that is linked to the kid's profile in your family.

A parent adds each kid's first name (or a nickname), picks a picture, and can add the year they were born. The birth year is only used to choose a simpler layout for younger kids.

While a kid uses the app we keep: chores marked done and any note added, money earned, penalties and rewards asked for, savings goals, screen time they log, and chore or reward ideas they send you, including any link they paste. A notification token is kept if the phone allows notifications.

We don't ask kids for their location, contacts, photos, email address, phone number or any other contact details, and kids can't message anyone outside the family through the app.

Links to shops

When a grown-up or a kid adds a link to a product, our server reads that shop page once to get its picture, name and price. When the app then shows that picture, the phone loads it from the shop's website, which can see the phone's internet address, as with any web page. We don't send the shop anything else about you or your kid.

How we use it

To run the app for your family: showing chores, balances and rewards on everyone's phones and keeping them in step.

To send notifications you've allowed, such as "a chore is waiting for you" or "your reward is ready". Notifications can include a kid's first name and a chore, and may show on the phone's lock screen, depending on the phone's settings.

To run your subscription, free trial and refer-a-friend months.

To keep the service safe and working: stopping misuse of invite codes and fixing problems. Our hosting keeps short technical logs, such as internet addresses and device details, to run and protect the service.

Optional answers about how you heard about us help us decide where to tell other families about DoneUp.

What we don't do

No ads. We don't show advertising to anyone, and never to kids.

We don't sell your family's data or share it for advertising.

We don't track you or your kids across other apps or websites, and there are no analytics or advertising tools in the app. Because we don't track you, we treat every browser and phone the same, whether or not it sends a "Do Not Track" signal.

Who helps us run DoneUp

We use a few service providers, only to run the app. They may only use the data to provide their service to us.

Supabase: hosts our database, sign-in and file storage, in the United States (US East).

Apple and Google: sign-in for grown-ups, in-app purchases, and delivering notifications to phones.

Expo: passes notifications from our server to Apple and Google. A notification includes its short message, such as a kid's first name and a chore.

RevenueCat: checks App Store and Google Play purchases for the family plan. It receives the paying grown-up's account number and purchase details, not kids' data.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

Children's privacy

DoneUp is made for families, and a parent or guardian is always in control. Only a grown-up can create a family, add a kid, and invite that kid's phone. We ask for a parent's or guardian's permission, through that setup, before a kid's phone can join, and we collect only what the app needs to work.

A parent can see everything we keep about their kid in the app: their chores, money, rewards, ideas and screen time. A parent can change a kid's name, picture and birth year, sign a kid's phone out at any time, and turn off rewards.

A parent can stop us collecting more about their kid at any time by signing the kid's phone out or deleting the kid, and can ask us to delete what we already have.

To have a kid's information deleted, a parent can delete the family account in the app (Family and account, then Delete my account), which deletes every kid in that family. A kid who also belongs to another parent's home stays in that home, with that parent. To delete one kid's information but keep the family, email us at support@adavastudio.com and we'll do it within 30 days.

If you think a kid is using DoneUp without a parent's permission, email us and we'll delete their information.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

We keep your family's information while your account is in use, so the history of chores and money stays correct.

If a family has no active plan or free trial and nobody in it has used DoneUp for 12 months, we delete the family and everything in it, including the kids' information.

You can delete your account in the app: Family and account, then Delete my account. If you own the family, this deletes the family and everything in it, including the kids' information, for everyone. If you're another grown-up in the family, it removes you and the family's data stays.

Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. Cancel it in your store settings too.

You can also ask us to delete your data by emailing support@adavastudio.com. We'll do it within 30 days and confirm when it's done.

Backup copies of our database are kept for up to 30 days, then deleted. A record that someone joined with a refer-a-friend code is kept without any name or email, so the refer-a-friend limits still work.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, download or delete your information, or to object to how we use it. Most of it you can see and change in the app. For anything else, email support@adavastudio.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

We don't sell or share personal information, as California law uses those words.

If you live in the UK or Europe

We use your family's information because it's needed to provide the app you asked for (our contract with you), with a parent's consent for their kid's information, and for our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe and working. You can withdraw consent at any time by signing a kid's phone out or deleting the kid.

Your information is stored and handled in the United States. Our service providers protect it with the safeguards the law requires for these transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.

Security

Data travels to and from our servers encrypted. Each family can only see its own data, and permissions are checked on our servers, not just in the app. Sign-in details on your phone are stored encrypted.

Reward pictures come from DoneUp's own picture library or from a shop page you link to. Pictures added before 25 September 2026 are kept until the family is deleted, and anyone who has a picture's exact link can open it.

No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your family's information safe and will tell you if something goes wrong that affects you.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll tell you in the app before it applies.
